Daniel Okafor

Daniel spent six years in the QA department at a mid-size mobile game publisher in Manchester. He shipped on a dozen titles, found the kind of bugs that get developers sighing into mugs, and got made redundant in the spring 2024 layoffs along with most of his team. He still picks up contract QA work, mostly remote, and writes game reviews here on weekends.

The QA background is the thing. He will play a game until something breaks, then play a bit more to make sure he can break it again, then write about it. He has opinions about input latency that he can defend in numbers. He still uses the Pixel 4a he bought in 2020 because it makes a useful low-end benchmark and because phones are expensive, and he thinks anyone reviewing a game on a flagship handset is reviewing a different game than the one most people will actually play.

Daniel covers most of the racing reviews and all of the shooters. He has also written a few platformer reviews, mostly the difficult ones, because he enjoys getting yelled at by his own monitor. His blog posts tend to focus on the messier parts of the browser-game industry, including discovery, performance, and what it is like to ship a game in 2026.
