Formula Speedway is the rare browser racer that earns the simulator label. Eight Formula-style circuits. Tyre wear modelled across compound choices (soft, medium, hard, wet). Pit stops with proper strategy weight. Weather variation that actually changes race tactics. I went into this expecting another generic open-wheel racer and walked away an hour later having actually thought about pit strategy.

Right, the handling model is what makes the rest matter. The car has appropriate weight transfer under braking. Tyre temperature builds with sustained cornering and you can feel the grip change. Cold tyres at the start of a stint slide. Hot tyres at the end overheat and lose performance. This is real-feeling F1 driving compressed into something that runs in a browser tab. I have no idea how the developer got it this right.

The pit strategy is where the depth lives. Each track has an optimal-stint-length for each tyre compound, and getting it wrong costs you positions. I lost a race I should have won by stretching the medium tyre two laps too far. That kind of strategic consequence is what separates racing sim from racing arcade, and Formula Speedway has it.

AI opponents play at multiple competence levels. The hardest setting plays at near-perfect lines and forces you to outdrive rather than outmuscle them. Easier settings make occasional mistakes you can punish. The progression from easy to hardest is actually a learning curve, not just stat scaling.

Five stars. Best browser racer I've reviewed this year by a clear margin. If you have any affection for F1 or open-wheel racing more broadly, play this. Even on mobile it works well enough, though desktop with gamepad is where the handling model really shines.
