Snow Race

Up arrow to accelerate; down to brake; left and right to lean during jumps. The snowmobile follows the trail surface with realistic snow-grip physics. Lean forward for descents, lean back for climbs; jumps require mid-air lean correction.

Snow Race is snowmobile racing through mountain forest trails. Powder physics. Jumps. Avalanche risk. The concept is sound, the genre is underrepresented in browser games, the developer had a real opportunity here.

They missed it. Right, the handling model is the first problem. Snowmobiles in real life have specific physics: the front skis steer, the back tread propels, sliding is constant and managed through body weight. Snow Race ignores all of this. Your snowmobile behaves like a slidier car, which is exactly the lazy choice the genre's worth doing better than.

The avalanche-risk mechanic is just bad design. Random avalanches trigger at unpredictable points and there's no warning and no counterplay. You die because of an avalanche, which feels arbitrary because there's no skill to avoiding it. It's a roll of the dice mid-race that ruins what was otherwise going to be a reasonable run.

Track variety is the only positive. Eight courses, each with different layouts and obstacle densities. The forest sections in particular look nice and would be enjoyable to ride through if the underlying handling model worked.

Two-and-a-half stars. The premise deserves a better game. The handling and the dice-roll avalanches make this hard to recommend even as a genre-curious play. Skip it.
