Editor review
Asteroid Shield is static-position asteroid defender. You don't move. You rotate to face incoming threats. Time bursts of fire to break up rocks before they reach you. Different from the standard Asteroids format because you're stationary in the centre of the screen.
Right, the stationary-rotation mechanic is the design's pivot. You can aim 360 degrees. You can't move. Asteroids approach from all directions and you have to prioritise which direction to face. Faster rotation means quicker threat-response but less time to aim each shot. Slower rotation means each shot is more accurate but more threats slip through.
The threat-prioritisation is real. Asteroids vary in size, speed, and trajectory accuracy. Some asteroids will hit you. Some asteroids will miss. Reading the trajectories at a glance is the skill the game asks of you. By minute five I was confident enough to ignore asteroids that I could see would miss and focus on the ones that wouldn't.
What's underdone is the late-game scaling. After about ten minutes the asteroid spawn rate exceeds your ability to track even with optimal prioritisation. The game ends not because you made a mistake but because there's just too much.
Three-and-a-half stars. Tight stationary-defender mechanic with one design flaw at the long-game end. Worth a play for the central mechanic. Don't expect long sessions.
