Editor review
Highway Pursuit is a top-down highway chase. You're the runner. Police spawn behind you and try to box you in. Survive long enough and harder police units appear: roadblocks, helicopters, SWAT vans. Same family as Police Pursuit on this site but pruned to single-player and more focused.
Right, the focused scope works in its favour. Police Pursuit tried to do too much by including both sides of the chase. Highway Pursuit just commits to one. You're running. They're chasing. The decisions you make are about routing and risk-taking, not switching modes.
The procedural highway generation produces enough variety to keep individual runs interesting without spawning unfair layouts. The road layouts include forks, on-ramps, and the occasional tunnel, all of which create real tactical decisions about losing pursuers.
What I'd push back on is the difficulty curve. The first two minutes are too easy and the eight-minute mark is too punishing. There's a window around minute four where the design feels right and you're making actually interesting decisions, but it doesn't last. Most runs ended for me because the police-spawn rate exceeded the road's escape-route density.
Three-and-a-half stars. Better than its cousin Police Pursuit on this site, but limited by an unbalanced difficulty curve. Worth a few sessions if procedural-chase games are your thing.
