Worm Hunt IO is another Slither.io clone. Worm-growth arena, combat-cut mechanics, customisable worm skins. The genre has dozens of these and Worm Hunt is among the better-executed ones, without standing out from the original Slither.io fundamentally.
Honestly, the differentiator that matters most in this sub-genre is the latency. A Slither-style game lives or dies on whether your worm responds instantly to mouse direction changes. Worm Hunt has acceptable but not exceptional latency on the servers I tested. Most matches felt fine. A few had perceptible lag that cost me late-game positions where micro-timing mattered.
The customisable skins are the design's secondary draw. Earn points across matches to unlock cosmetic worm patterns. The grind is reasonable (you can unlock most skins within 20 hours of play) and the patterns are varied enough to feel personal. I have a strong preference for the rainbow-stripe skin, which is probably fully visible to opponents and tactically suboptimal, but I like it.
The match-length is on par with Slither Battle on this site (also reviewed, 5 stars). Slither Battle is the better implementation across most dimensions, so the question is whether Worm Hunt offers enough variation to justify playing both. The answer is yes if you want the variety, no if you only play one.
Three-and-a-half stars. Competent Slither.io clone with good cosmetic depth. Worth a play if Slither Battle's lobbies happen to be empty.
