Slither Battle is, full disclosure, my most-played game on this site. I have logged easily a hundred hours on it over the last six months. The format is Slither.io: you're a worm, food is everywhere on the screen, eat to grow, the central mechanic is forcing other worms to crash into your body so you can absorb their accumulated mass.
Look, this is the format that I think made the .io genre matter. Agar.io (2015) was the precursor and the technical achievement, but Slither.io (2016) added the positional dimension that turned the format from "biggest blob wins" into a real spatial-strategic game. Growing isn't the actual game. Outmanoeuvring other worms is. The two are different problems and Slither Battle correctly identifies the second as the more interesting one.
The 25-minute average match length is exactly right for browser play. Long enough to develop a substantive position. Short enough that losing doesn't sting badly because you can just start another match.
I have favourite worm-skins. A personal best length of 14,200, which is decent but nothing like the top of the leaderboard. A memorable late-game collapse where I lost a fifteen-minute lead in three seconds. And the specific muscle-memory of when to boost and when to coast that took maybe forty hours to build.
Five stars. This is the .io game I would point anyone curious at first. Best browser multiplayer game on this site by a clear margin. Worth installing a Chrome shortcut just for this one.
