Editor review

Worm Eat IO is another worm-arena IO, this one with poison food and boost cooldowns. The Slither.io lineage continues. What sets Worm Eat IO apart from the original (and from Slither Battle and Worm Hunt on this site) is the poison-food mechanic.

Honestly, the poison-food is the design's interesting wrinkle. Most food on the map is normal (grow when eaten). Some food is poison (shrink when eaten, takes time to recover). The distinction is visual but subtle. Skilled players learn to recognise poison-food at a glance. Newcomers eat it accidentally and lose mass at frustrating moments.

The boost-cooldown system is the other distinguishing thing. Most Slither.io variants let you boost (move faster, lose mass) freely. Worm Eat IO puts a cooldown on boosts: you can boost for two seconds, then have to wait ten seconds before boosting again. This forces more strategic boost-use than the free-boost format does.

Where it falls short is the visual readability of the poison-food. The differences between normal and poison food are too small at a glance. I lost runs to accidental poison-eating that didn't feel like a fair design challenge, just a visual ambiguity. The mechanic is good. The execution of the visual cue is not.

Three-and-a-half stars. Solid Slither.io variant with two thoughtful additions and one execution flaw. Worth a play for the variety.
