Editor review
Wall Jumper is precision vertical platforming. Speedrun-style level design. Tight time targets that the leaderboard expects you to beat. The core mechanic is wall-jumping between facing walls to climb, with the timing window tight enough that mashing the button gets you nowhere.
Right, this is the genre I happily get destroyed in. I died about a hundred and twenty times in the first hour. By hour three I was clearing levels in within 10 percent of the gold-medal times and feeling good about it. By hour six I had four gold medals and the rest were grinding for that last fractional second.
What makes Wall Jumper work is the input feel. Wall-jump activates at the exact moment your character touches the wall, not on a delay. Jump arc is deterministic, meaning you can predict where you'll land. Coyote-time (the brief window after walking off a ledge where you can still jump) is tuned generously without feeling cheaty. Each of these is a small thing. Together they make a platformer feel right rather than wrong.
Forty levels. Each one solvable in 15 to 90 seconds for an expert. Each one demanding precision and pattern-recognition for a learner. Gold-medal times require near-optimal routing plus clean execution.
Four-and-a-half stars. Strong precision platformer with the right level of harshness. Half-star reservation is the mobile controls. Precision platforming on touch is hard. The on-screen jump button has a perceptible lag (probably 30 to 50ms more than keyboard) that costs you on tight timings. Desktop only honestly.
Did six years in QA at a mobile game publisher before the 2024 layoffs took the team. Now contracts QA and reviews games here on the side. Plays on a refusing-to-upgrade Android phone.
