Editor review

Jungle Jumper is a classic side-scrolling pixel platformer. Twenty hand-designed levels. The jump arc is the right feel, which is most of what a platformer needs to get right. Tap for short hop, hold for longer, release to drop. The character has weight without being slow.

What makes Jungle Jumper specifically good rather than generic-good is the level design. The 20 levels are clearly hand-built rather than procedural. Each one introduces a new mechanic or pattern (the bouncing-vine on level 4, the timed-platform sequence on level 11, the swinging-bridge area on level 16, the final boss on level 20). The mechanics get reused in later levels in combinations that test whether you actually learned them.

I spent a Sunday morning playing through the whole thing. About three hours, no walkthrough needed. The difficulty curve respects you without being patronising. You die a few times on each level, you learn the layout, you clear it, you move on. That's the rhythm a good platformer should have.

Pixel art is the other strong thing. Hand-pixeled at native resolution. Character animations are smooth across maybe ten frames per action. Background parallax adds depth without being distracting.

Four stars. Strong execution of a familiar genre. Half-star reservation is just that 20 levels is short and there's no post-campaign content beyond a time-attack mode. Worth the three hours.
