Editor review

Ranger Bow is side-scrolling fantasy bow ranger. Arc your arrows against gravity. Dodge incoming attacks. Eliminate forest threats. The genre is the side-scrolling archer family (Castle Crashers archer-class, the Bowmaster web flash era) and Ranger Bow is a competent entry.

Right, the arrow-arc mechanic is the central skill. Draw the bow, the longer you hold the more power, release the arrow into a gravity-affected arc. Distant targets require higher arc angles. Close targets require flatter shots. The genre's been mining this mechanic for decades and Ranger Bow does it correctly.

What's plain is everything else. Forest setting. Generic enemy types. 20 levels of similar combat. Equipment progression that adds raw damage without changing playstyle. Nothing distinguishes Ranger Bow from the dozens of similar games in the catalogue.

The boss fights at the end of each tier (five tiers of four levels) are the most distinct content. Each boss has a pattern that requires arc-angle precision rather than just rapid fire. These are the parts of the game I'd remember a week from now.

Three stars. Functional side-scrolling archer. The arrow physics is good. The rest is generic. Worth a couple of hours if the archery fantasy appeals.
