Editor review

Plant Defense is Plants vs Zombies. Place defensive plants on a garden grid to stop incoming insect waves. The Popcap original (2009) defined this genre and Plant Defense is doing a deliberate tribute to it.

Right, the tribute is faithful but doesn't reach the original's quality. Plant types are similar (a basic shooter plant, a tank plant, a defensive plant, a damage-dealer). The grid layout is similar. The wave structure is similar. The sun-collection economy is similar.

What's missing is the personality. PvZ had distinctive plant designs, memorable music, plant-introduction sequences that built character. Plant Defense has generic plants, forgettable music, and zero personality moments. It's like a knock-off PvZ on a discount-store shelf.

The wave-design is competent but not interesting. Each level is roughly the same arc. Plant your basic defences. Survive five rounds of basic enemies. Then a boss-wave that's harder. Repeat across 30 levels.

Two-and-a-half stars. Functional Plants vs Zombies clone without any of the original's charm. Just play the original instead, even if it's a paid game.
