How to play

Press an arrow key to slide in that direction. The character continues sliding until hitting an obstacle (wall, blocker, or the level edge). You cannot stop mid-slide. Plan the sequence of directions that will route you to the exit, possibly via puzzle elements (switches, keys, breakable walls).

Game features

  • Forty hand-designed sliding-puzzle levels
  • Variable obstacle types: walls, breakable bricks, switches, doors
  • Undo system (one undo per level) for thoughtful experimentation
  • Three difficulty tiers introducing new mechanics gradually
  • Daily seeded puzzle for shared community challenge
  • Plays equally well on keyboard, gamepad, and touch screens

Editor review

Ice Slide is a single-screen puzzle platformer where every surface is ice. You slide until you hit something. The "hit something" is the puzzle: you have to plan routes that bounce you off walls, obstacles, and other characters to reach the goal.

I love the central mechanic because it inverts the platformer default. In most platformers you choose where to stop. Here you choose where to start and the physics determines where you stop. Each level is a puzzle of choosing the right starting direction and the right wall to bounce off, in sequence, to navigate to the goal.

The 100 levels progress thoughtfully. Early ones teach you that you slide. Mid-campaign introduces moveable blocks (you can push them by sliding into them). Later levels add ice-walls that break after one hit, melting-ice tiles that disappear after you cross them, and bumpers that send you in specific directions. By level 60 the puzzles require six or seven sequenced moves and are actually hard.

What's frustrating: there's no undo. Make a mistake on move four of a seven-move puzzle and you have to restart. I get why (the restart preserves the puzzle's tension) but on the longer levels it's tedious.

Four stars. Strong puzzle-platformer with a fresh central mechanic. Half-star reservation is the missing undo system, which is the standard quality-of-life feature I expect in this category.
