Hunt IO is asymmetric multiplayer hunt. One player is the monster. Others are hunters who must work together to take it down. The asymmetric format is the design's headline thing and the place where it falls down hardest.
Honestly, asymmetric multiplayer is one of the harder formats to balance. Dead by Daylight (2016) is the canonical example and that game has had years of patches to refine the killer-versus-survivor balance. Hunt IO is doing the format casually without the iteration. The result is that the monster is too strong in skilled hands and too weak in unskilled hands, which means most matches are either monster-stomps or hunter-stomps with no middle ground.
The hunter cooperation layer is the bigger issue. Coordinated hunter teams can dismantle most monsters. Uncoordinated hunter teams (which is most of them in casual matchmaking) just die in sequence. The format demands voice-chat coordination that the browser-game ecosystem can't reliably provide.
What works is the role-asymmetry concept. Playing monster feels different from playing hunter. Both roles have their own appeal. The format would work in a setting with coordinated teams.
