Editor review
Word Weaver is the connect-letters-on-a-grid genre. Boggle-like. Letters arranged in a 4x4 or 5x5 grid. You drag a path through adjacent letters to form words. Found words score points based on length and rare-letter usage. Time limit per puzzle increases the pressure as you advance.
Honestly, this is a category where I have a lot of opinions because I tutor SAT vocabulary on the side. The good word games train pattern recognition (seeing "TIO" and chasing through possible suffixes for "NATION", "STATION", "NATIONAL", "INTERNATIONAL"). Word Weaver does this fine. The dictionary is reasonable, common words score, the bonus for finding longer paths is well-tuned, and there's no penalty for proposing a word the dictionary rejects.
Where it falls short of the gold standard (Boggle, basically) is in the level format. There's a "campaign" mode that takes a Boggle-style word-search and adds artificial constraints (find all words with "Q", or no vowels, etc). Some of these are interesting puzzles. Most are tedious filler. Three-and-a-half stars. Better than the average word game in the catalogue, not as good as the genre's best.
