Match Three Saga is, well, match-three. Three or more same-coloured candies in a row clear, gravity drops new candies in. Bejeweled (2001) defined the genre. Candy Crush Saga (2012) refined it into mobile money-printing. Every match-three since has been working in their shadow. Match Three Saga is one of them.
What distinguishes a good match-three from a mediocre one is the depth of the strategic layer above the matching. The good ones have power-ups that combine in interesting ways, board states that reward planning several moves ahead, level objectives that change what you're trying to accomplish, and a sensible cap on consecutive-day bonuses so you don't feel obligated to log in. Match Three Saga has the power-ups (six of them, decently distinct), but the level objectives are mostly "clear X candies" variations and the strategic depth doesn't get past medium.
The other issue is the difficulty curve. It's tuned to be just frustrating enough to encourage power-up purchases, which are technically available even on this free version through ad-watching. I find that monetisation gradient distasteful even if the actual gameplay is fine. Three stars. Functional match-three, not a reason to prefer this over the obvious alternatives.
