Editor review
Tap Defense is a tower-defence with the maps replaced by single-screen tap-to-place actions. Enemies cross the screen on fixed paths, you tap to drop towers in tiles, towers shoot automatically. Standard tower-defence economics. Standard wave escalation. Standard upgrade tree. Standard end-of-map results screen.
The game's hook is its compression. Most tower-defence games are 30-minute-per-mission affairs, this one runs maps in five to seven minutes. That's a real positive for browser play, where 30-minute sessions are not what most players want. The maps are well-designed within that constraint, and the tower variety (six tower types, each with a meaningful niche) gives the genre's strategic decision-making in a smaller form.
Downside: the late maps lean on bullet-sponge enemies in a way that feels cheap. A late boss that takes 90 seconds of pure DPS to kill isn't a strategic puzzle, it's an attrition exercise. Three-and-a-half stars. Good tower-defence implementation for a quick play session, with a worse endgame than middle.
