Editor review
Slide Tiles is a sliding-tile puzzle. The classic 15-puzzle, but with an image as the goal state rather than just numbered tiles. Slide tiles around the empty cell until the image is reconstructed.
The puzzle itself is one of the older recreational math problems on record, dating to 1880s, and there's an entire mathematical literature on which configurations are solvable (half of them are; the other half are provably unreachable from the solved state without lifting tiles, which the puzzle doesn't allow). The mathematics is interesting. The actual play, after about ten puzzles, is tedious.
Slide Tiles here has 30 images to scramble. The interface is fine. Tap-to-slide, swipe-to-slide, drag-to-slide, and arrow-keys-to-slide all work. Move counter tracks how close you are to the optimal-solution path.
But the puzzle is what it is. Once you understand the technique (cycle the rows one at a time from the top, then the columns left-to-right, then the final 2x3 corner has its own technique that you learn in fifteen minutes), every puzzle is solvable by the same algorithm. It becomes a clock-watching exercise rather than a thinking puzzle. Two-and-a-half stars for a category that just doesn't translate well to repeated play.
