Editor review

Ninja Story is stealth-focused adventure with line-of-sight detection, three difficulty paths through each mission, and silent-takedown mechanics. The stealth-game genre is hard to pull off in a browser format because the detection systems need to be readable. Ninja Story handles this acceptably.

The line-of-sight visualisation is the part that makes or breaks stealth games. You can see the cone of vision each guard has. The cone updates as the guard moves and looks around. You plan your movements through gaps in the cones. This is the standard stealth-game UI affordance and Ninja Story implements it correctly.

The three-difficulty-paths is the design's interesting wrinkle. Each mission has three viable approaches: lethal (kill everyone, no stealth required), stealth (sneak past everyone, no kills), and ghost (no kills, no detection, the hardest). Each path has different objectives and different reward levels. Completing a mission on ghost difficulty unlocks bonus content that lethal doesn't.

Where it falls short is the AI consistency. Some guards see you through walls. Others don't notice you in plain sight. The detection rules aren't quite reliable enough to feel fair. I died several times to detections I couldn't reproduce and snuck past guards I shouldn't have on other runs.

Three-and-a-half stars. Solid stealth adventure with good difficulty options. Half-star reservation is the AI inconsistency, which is the wrong thing to be inconsistent about in a stealth game.
