Editor review

Knight Adventure is action-RPG with a small open world, hand-crafted dungeons, and meaningful equipment progression. The format compresses what a 60-hour console RPG would be into a six-to-eight hour browser game, and Knight Adventure pulls off the compression well.

The combat is the foundation. Real-time melee with attack, block, and dodge mechanics. Enemy attacks telegraph clearly enough that attentive players can avoid most damage. Different enemy types require different tactics. Some have unblockable attacks that must be dodged. Others have parry windows that reward aggressive timing. The five boss encounters each have multi-phase patterns that demand pattern recognition.

The equipment progression is meaningful without being overwhelming. Each item upgrade noticeably changes your performance: better weapons hit harder, better armour absorbs more damage, accessories provide stat bonuses. The visual variation is appreciated, your character looks different in late-game equipment than in starting gear.

The 20 side quests are mostly well-written, with a handful of standout quest lines that surprised me. The three difficulty modes scale enemy damage and HP without changing AI behaviour, which is the right approach.

Four stars. Substantive action-RPG for a free browser game. Worth the six to eight hours of campaign. Half-star reservation is the limited side-content depth past those 20 quests, which means there's no real reason to keep playing after the campaign ends.
