The resource-management is the design's central thing. Three resources matter: stamina (depletes with movement, recovers with rest), oxygen (depletes faster at altitude, can be supplemented with tanks), and warmth (depletes in cold weather, replenished by camping with fuel). Balancing the three across multi-day climbs is the strategic puzzle.
The weather system is the design's smartest call. Each day has a weather forecast (clear, snowy, stormy). Clear days are safe for fast ascent. Snowy days slow movement and accelerate cold-loss. Stormy days are deadly and require waiting them out at camp. The decision to push through marginal weather versus wait for clear days creates real strategic tension.
What's underdone is the route variety. One mountain. One ascent path. No alternate routes through the peak. After completing the campaign there's no real reason to climb again because the experience is identical to your first run.
Three stars. Tight survival sim with good resource pressure. Half-star reservation is the lack of replayability. One mountain feels limited for a game category where varied terrain is part of the appeal.
