Lost World is survive-a-primordial-jungle-teeming-with-dinosaurs. Explore. Gather supplies. Avoid predators. Find the rescue beacon. The survival-with-predators format has been around since the original Jurassic Park games and Lost World occupies the niche credibly.
The dinosaur AI is the design's interesting layer. Different dinosaur types behave differently. Raptors hunt in coordinated packs (actually tense when you encounter them). Stegosauruses are passive but dangerous if cornered. T-Rex roars from a distance and only attacks at close range. The variety means encounters require different strategies depending on which species you've stumbled into.
The supply-gathering loop is the resource-management layer. Food, water, medicine, ammunition. Each depletes over time and you have to gather replacement supplies. Some supplies require traveling to specific zones. The strategic question is constant: do you head to the rescue beacon now with what you have, or detour for supplies that might let you survive longer?
What's underdeveloped is the rescue-beacon objective. You're told the beacon is somewhere in the jungle. Finding it is the campaign goal. But the navigation hints are too vague and I spent maybe an hour wandering aimlessly looking for it. Better signposting would help.
Three stars. Tense survival with good dinosaur variety. Half-star reservation is the unclear navigation toward the main objective, which made the campaign feel longer than it should.
