The dinosaur-survival sub-genre is small but evocative. Lost Worlds setting alone gives it appeal beyond its mechanics — the visual of avoiding raptors in a jungle is inherently more compelling than the same mechanics in a generic setting.
The twelve dinosaur types have distinct AI behaviours. Herbivores graze in groups and ignore the player unless approached too closely; small carnivores actively hunt the player; large carnivores patrol territorial routes and attack any movement in their territory; some species can be redirected with bait (fish for raptors, fruit for ankylosaurs). Reading each dinosaurs behaviour pattern is the games central skill.
The bait-and-distract stealth mechanic is the games clever addition to the survival format. Rather than pure-avoidance gameplay, the player can actively manipulate predator pathing by placing bait. Adequate for survival-adventure fans.
