Editor review

Forest Path is a gentle exploration adventure through an enchanted forest. Discover paths. Meet creatures. No combat or failure state. The cozy-adventure category in the same family as Forest Spirit (also on this site, the no-combat platformer).

Look, I want to acknowledge what this category is. Forest Path is not trying to be a high-skill game. It is trying to be a peaceful exploration experience for players who want something low-stress between intense games. Evaluating it against action-adventure expectations is unfair.

On its own terms it works. The forest is hand-designed across maybe two hours of content. Each section has a different visual atmosphere (sun-dappled glade, moss-covered ruins, mushroom grove, riverside path, mountain meadow). The creatures you meet have small dialogue exchanges that build a gentle world without much plot weight.

What makes Forest Path stand out from Forest Spirit (the platformer cousin) is the exploration depth. Forest Spirit is a platformer with collectibles. Forest Path is a discovery game where the goal is finding hidden paths and characters rather than completing a level. The two have different rhythms.

Three-and-a-half stars. Good gentle exploration for the right audience. Same caveat as Forest Spirit: if you want challenge, look elsewhere. If you want a peaceful two hours, this is one of the better entries in that small category.
