Editor review
Desert Expedition is top-down survival adventure across a procedurally arranged desert. Manage water. Find oases. Reach the temple before dehydration. The survival-with-resource-management format has a small browser-game niche and Desert Expedition occupies it without much flair.
Honestly, the resource management is the design's only mechanic and it's pretty thin. You have a water meter that depletes over time. Oases refill it. Dehydration kills you. The strategic question is constant water-budget planning across the procedural map. That's basically the whole game.
The procedural generation is decent. Each run produces a different map with different oasis placement and different obstacle layouts. The temple is always somewhere in the desert. You have to find it before water runs out, which means efficient routing matters more than slow exploration.
What's underdeveloped is everything beyond the resource management. There's no combat (you avoid hazards rather than fight them). There's no story (you're a faceless adventurer crossing a featureless desert). There's no character progression (your character doesn't gain abilities or stats). The format works as a single-run challenge but doesn't sustain repeated play.
Three stars. Tight resource-management survival with limited depth. Worth a few runs for the format. Limited longevity past the first hour or two.
