Crusher Box is a single-screen puzzle-arcade hybrid where you steer a hydraulic crusher across a 2D grid to flatten boxes of different sizes. Small boxes squish instantly. Larger boxes require pre-compression by squishing smaller boxes against them. Some boxes contain bonuses, some are bombs, some are immovable concrete, some are moving and you have to time the crusher right.
The basic puzzle structure works. There's a real spatial-planning element to figuring out which order to crush boxes in. The first twenty levels build this nicely. After that the design starts repeating itself, with new "obstacle" types that are really just variants of earlier ones.
Controls feel slightly stiff to me. Movement is grid-locked, which is fine, but the crusher accelerates oddly when you hold a direction key. I prefer the touch-tap-to-target option that's also available, but you can't use both inputs in the same session without remapping. Three stars. Solid puzzle hook, slightly fumbled execution, and a decent two-bus-ride length if you don't push past level twenty.
