Connect Four is the two-player game where you drop coloured discs into a 6-column 7-row vertical grid, trying to form a four-in-a-row in any direction, with horizontal, vertical, and the two diagonal lines all counting. The 1974 Milton Bradley game, mathematically solved by James D. Allen in 1988 (first player wins with optimal play if they start in the centre column).
Look, the existence of a solved-game proof matters for how Connect Four Pro is interesting. Against a human opponent who doesn't know the solution, the game is a real strategic puzzle. Against an AI opponent who DOES know the solution, the game becomes about whether the AI plays at maximum strength or deliberately handicapped. Connect Four Pro lets you set this directly. The "master" AI is unbeatable from second-player position. "Beginner" plays randomly. Middle settings are reasonably tuned. Picking the right opponent level is most of the game's mid-term replay value.
The local two-player mode is also well-supported. Pass-and-play on the same keyboard works fine. The visual feedback when someone wins (the four-in-a-row highlights, the chips animate slightly) is polished without being intrusive.
Three-and-a-half stars. Solid Connect Four with an honest AI. Half-star reservation is the standard browser-game observation: there's no online multiplayer, only local or against the AI. For a game this short, online matchmaking would be obvious value.
