Editor review
Wrestling Pro is side-view amateur wrestling. Takedown attempts. Escapes. Pin attempts. Three-period matches with points scoring. The amateur-wrestling format (collegiate, freestyle, Greco-Roman) is rarely modelled in games and Wrestling Pro takes it seriously.
The takedown-escape rhythm is the central thing. Takedown attempts are timing-based: shoot for a leg, the opponent defends or sprawls, you complete the takedown or lose the position. Escape attempts work the opposite way: you're underneath, you choose to escape (resets to neutral) or to reverse (you end up on top). The decision rhythm is appropriate to the sport.
The points system is correctly modelled. Takedowns score two points. Escapes one. Reversals two. Near-falls (almost-pins) score additional points based on duration. Periods are short and points accumulate across them. The strategic question is whether to play for safe two-point takedowns or risk the higher-scoring near-fall attempts.
Where it falls short is the moment-to-moment visual feedback. The grappling action happens in a small visual area and the body-position changes are hard to read at a glance. You're sometimes unsure why a takedown attempt failed because the visual doesn't show the defensive response clearly.
Three stars. Honest amateur-wrestling sim with mostly-correct mechanics. The visual readability holds it back from being broadly recommendable. Worth a play if amateur wrestling specifically interests you. Niche genre done with respect.
