Editor review
Sumo as a digital game is a strange and effective format. The constraints — circular ring, push-based combat, short matches — combine to create a play experience thats genuinely different from other martial-arts video games. Sumo Push commits to the format.
The mass-and-momentum modeling is the games most distinctive feature. The two wrestlers have variable mass; heavier wrestlers are harder to push but slower to react; lighter wrestlers can manoeuvre but lose direct push contests. The eight opponent roster includes wrestlers across the mass spectrum, which forces the player to adapt strategy by matchup.
The deflect mechanic is the games tactical depth. Pure push-vs-push contests favour the heavier wrestler; well-timed deflections allow lighter wrestlers to redirect heavier opponents momentum past the ring edge. Recommended for unusual-sport enthusiasts.
