Editor review
Boxing Stars is cartoon-style arcade boxing. Aim punches with mouse at the opponent head. Dodge incoming combinations. Knock down for the count. The genre overlap with Boxing Champion on this site is real but Boxing Stars sits firmly below it.
The mouse-aim mechanic is the design's central choice and it doesn't quite work. You're trying to position your punch on a specific target (the chin, the temple, the body) but the cartoon proportions make the targets visually unclear. There's a head-shaped target zone and a body-shaped target zone and that's it. The promise of precise punch placement isn't really delivered.
The combat rhythm is basic. The opponent throws a combination. You dodge by leaning. You throw a combination back. They dodge or take damage. Repeat until knockout. The strategic depth that Boxing Champion delivers through its punch-type system isn't here. You have one punch type (light) and one combination input.
The visual presentation is the part I should mention. Cartoon style is appealing. Characters are expressive. Animations are punchy. None of which fixes the underlying gameplay shortfall.
Two-and-a-half stars. Charming presentation around a thin gameplay loop. The Boxing Champion on this site is the better play. Skip this one unless you specifically want the cartoon aesthetic.
