Baseball Slam is side-view baseball batting against varied pitch types. Time your swing for contact. Choose direction for shot placement. The genre is narrow (just batting, no fielding or base-running) and Baseball Slam does it tightly without overreach.
The pitch-type variety is the central thing. Fastball comes straight at appropriate velocity. Curveball breaks late, requiring you to anticipate the break. Slider has horizontal movement. Knuckleball wobbles unpredictably. Each pitch type has different timing requirements and your batting eye has to read the pitcher's release point to identify what's coming.
The contact-and-direction system is good. Timing affects contact quality (early, perfect, late). Directional input affects shot placement (pull, centre, opposite field). Combining the two correctly puts the ball where you want it. Mis-time and you ground out. Aim wrong and you pop up. The skill ceiling is real.
I appreciate that the AI pitcher actually adapts. If you've been crushing fastballs they'll throw more breaking pitches. If you've been struggling with curves they'll keep feeding curves. The pattern-recognition pitcher AI is rare in browser baseball.
